Hi, I'm Andrew Paterson — broker, developer, Australian native, and proud American by choice. I want to tell you a little about who I am and why I started Southern Cross Real Estate.

I left corporate Australia chasing the American Dream — not as a concept, but as a real decision to build something of my own, on my own terms, in a country that makes that possible.

I spent 25 years in institutional real estate development building — apartments, hotels, shopping centers, master-planned communities. That career eventually pointed me toward this coastline. My family has roots here, and what once was a place we visited, we are now blessed to call home. The South Carolina coast has a way of doing that to people — the history, the water, the community. If you're relocating here, you already know what I mean.

So why the name Southern Cross? It's the constellation Australians grow up with — five stars that have guided navigators for centuries. For me, it's a reminder that there is an order to things, a fixed point worth orienting yourself around, no matter how uncertain the terrain.

That's what I try to bring to every client I work with.

Real estate is one of the largest financial decisions most people will ever make. And yet too often it gets treated casually — a quick showing, a rushed offer, a signature on something most buyers never fully read. I've sat on enough sides of enough deals to know how much that costs people. Not just in dollars, but in outcomes they didn't see coming.

I know this because I've sat on both sides of the table. For 25 years I wasn't selling real estate — I was building it. Apartments, hotels, shopping centers, master-planned communities. My background is in development, in contracts, in understanding what a piece of land or a property is genuinely worth before anyone puts a number on it. As a licensed broker in South Carolina, I bring that experience to every transaction — what's negotiable, what's not, what the paperwork really says, and where the value is that most people walk right past.

That knowledge doesn't stay in the boardroom. It shows up in how I represent every buyer and every seller who trusts us with their transaction.
